AARP Foundation Tax-Aide seeks volunteers to provide free, in-person tax preparation assistance to those who need it most. Volunteers are needed weekdays, and at sites throughout Racine County. Some experience with tax preparation and computer skills are needed for volunteer counselors preparing tax returns. However, no experience or special skills are needed to serve as a client facilitator.
An orientation meeting for all new volunteers will be held in early November. Volunteers interested in tax preparation will need to attend a day-long introduction to tax software and tax law which will be held in December and a week-long training session takes place in early January.
Tax returns are completed on weekdays, during February, March and early April. Volunteers work at least one day per week.
