Description

SMALL PLATES BIG HEARTS: 8 small portions for you. 1 giant help to your community.

BeLEAF Survivors is lifting, empowering, advocating, and fighting for survivors, their allies, and a culture of consent with their Sexual Assault Services (SAS) and Stop Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) programs.  Last July, BeLEAF hosted a popular food crawl fundraiser called Small Plates Big Hearts and people wanted a second helping, so they are bringing it back for Round 2!

This year’s Small Plates Big Hearts will be held on Saturday, September 10th. Eight popular downtown Racine restaurants will provide tasting portions of crowd-pleasing dishes for event ticket holders. A ticket will give each guest access to the food crawl from 1:30-4:30pm.

Attendees can wander downtown to visit all the stops and claim their eight samples in whatever order they wish and at their own pace.  There will be a good variety of dishes including Kouzena’s tourlou, Marci’s western wrappers, an Inmoxicated special cocktail, Main Street Bakery sweets, and more delicious bites.

Tickets are priced at $60 per person or $100 per couple and are available until September 4th.  Proceeds from the ticket sales will cover the purchase of food from the restaurants to give them needed revenue.  It will also include a donation to BeLEAF Survivors.

Restaurant partners include Inmoxicated, Ivanhoe Pub & Eatery, Kouzena 220, Main Street Bakery, Marci’s on Main, Social on Sixth, TaejaVu’s, and one more!  The event is made possible by generous sponsors including Thrivent, CRB Insurance, Rasmussen Diamonds, The Lang Family Foundation, State Farm- Michelle Christensen, Medical Health Systems of Wisconsin, Planned Parenthood, and the Downtown Racine Corporation.

Event proceeds will support BeLEAF Survivor’s mission to provide a safe and compassionate environment to help promote the healing of sexual assault survivors and their support people. These include services for survivors such as crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and support groups.  It also includes classroom-based lessons that teach local preschool, elementary, and middle school students what abuse is, what to do if happens, and how to get help.  Additionally, through education, outreach, and collaboration, BeLEAF works to shift the culture that perpetuates sexual violence in the community.

If you are hungry to help your community, Small Plates Big Hearts is meant for you!  For more information or to purchase tickets to Small Plates Big Hearts, visit beleafsurvivors.org/events or email info@beleafsurvivors.org.
