We need Adult volunteers to help run various stations and lead students from approximately 7:30 am – 2:30 pm, with RTB taking place from 8 am – 2 pm. You can volunteer one day or all five days. Or a couple of hours as needed. Our schedule is very flexible.
Goal is to beautify the neighborhood near Villa Street COP House and St. Catherine’s High School. Students will be working on houses, businesses, and the community garden. Students will not only be working to beautify the neighborhood, at the end of each day they will participate in reflection, games, and guest speakers. We really want to make sure students are getting the most out of this experience. We will also be having a BBQ on Friday to celebrate the end of the project. Of course to make all this happen, we need the help of adult volunteers!!!!
If you are interested in volunteering, please email me (Sarah) swebb@volunteerracine.org your availability to volunteer. Please let me know if you are handy, and are interested in leading a group of students.
****This year, we are working closely with St. Catherine’s High School. Many of the students that will be participating in RTB are from St. Catherine’s. Being a catholic school, there are very strict guidelines on who can lead a group of students. If you want to, or will be a leading a group of students you will need to complete the “Safe Environment Class” and Background Check required by the archdiocese. St. Catherine’s students will be required to have a group leader that has attended this training.
Adult volunteers can still help lead a group of St. Catherine’s students without this training, however they will be required to be partnered with another adult volunteer that has had this training. Adult volunteers can also lead a group of YVC students on their own, without this training.
Below are the steps to complete the “Safe Environment Class” and Background Check.
