Who We Are

Open during library hours, the lobby book shop is restocked daily.

  • Non-fiction books are sorted into categories, making it easy to find subjects of interest.
  • Special holidays and subjects are highlighted on separate carts and the assortment changes from month to month.
  • Please browse the selection each time you visit the library -- your purchases help.

Twice each year, the Friends run a MAJOR sale with more than 10,000 books, CDs and movies.

What We Do

Led by a volunteer board, the Friends are a group of local citizens who care about our public library. We contribute time, effort and resources to promote and support public library resources and community programs. By underwriting acquisitions and activities at and for the benefit of the Racine Public Library, we seek to help keep this community institution growing and teaching for generations to come.

In addition to providing material and moral support to the the mission and activities of the library, the Friends work as advocates for the library, as necessary.

Your Friends membership helps raise money for the library, and, as a Friend, we'll keep you aware of up-coming legislation and other matters that may affect your public library. You can make a meaningful and long-lasting difference for your library through advocacy. Benefits include:
