RNW works with residents in the City of Racine to establish block watch for crime prevention. We work with residents in several areas of the City to hold regular neighborhood meetings throughout the year. On the first Tuesday in August, we encourage City residents to host a National Night Out event. This event is designed to build trust between residents and public safety officials, and to promote community building within neighborhoods. We host the Group Workcamp home improvement project assisting low-to-moderate income and disabled homeowners with home repairs performed by teen volunteers and their adult supervisors. This takes place in a different neighborhood each year, the third week in June. We work with the City of Racine on the Individual Development Account (IDA) program, matched saving and training for first time homebuyers. We collaborate on a variety of projects with many other agencies and community members.
What We Do
The mission of Racine Neighborhood Watch, Inc. (RNW) is to create safe, friendly, and attractive neighborhoods throughout the City of Racine. RNW began in the early 1980's with a volunteer staff. The numerous volunteers and two employees carry out the work of Neighborhood Watch. As mentioned above, we coordinate block watches, neighborhood meetings, National Night Out, Group Workcamp, and the Individual Development Account (IDA) program.
