Peace Learning Circles (PLC) is seeking Assistant Facilitators for the 2014-2015 school year. The assistant facilitators support and assist the lead facilitators. The assistant facilitators also lead two small break-out groups and help redirect the students to keep the day on schedule and running smoothly. The day is a fun-filled day, each one different from the last. There is satisfaction in knowing that you have made a difference to the students that could last a lifetime. A short training and a background check is required. The Peacemakers Workshop is designed for 4th grade students and up. It consists of a 5 hour workshop, with students attending as a field trip day. Students participate in experiential activities where the focus is on building positive relationship skills. Throughout the workshop day, students learn six "peace tools, non-violent alternatives, communication skills, explore feelings, inclusion, cooperation, and participate in team-building games. Prior teaching experience is not needed. A short training and a background check is required. We are looking for dependable people with a heart for peace and hope for the future of our children. Assistant facilitators need to be patient and comfortable with children, redirecting them when necessary. PLC staff are mentors and positive role models for the behavior and skills we teach.
