Who We Are

Volunteer Chaperones Needed!!!

Do you think students today need to learn how to survive on their income and to save money for the future?  Do you think students today should understand the importance of a high school diploma and a good education to help them get a better paying job?

I, Megan Ferger,  am an 8th Grade Teacher at Starbuck Middle School in Racine and all our students are going on a Junior Achievement Fieldtrip to the JA Finance Park in Milwaukee, WI.  My students will be experiencing what it is like to create a budget based on a randomly selected life scenario that assigns them a job, a family, and then allows them to select the things they need to survive.  It shows them how their choices impact their take home pay.  All of this comes after a month of lessons about income, saving, expenses, credit, careers, and debt.

Our field trip to the JA Finance Park is on December 11 and 12 and we need 20 volunteers each day.  It is a full day field trip and you have to be willing to work with 8th grade students.  You will be in charge of helping 6-8 of them complete their budgets and manage their "life scenario's" so that they can learn about how to make good fiscal choices.  Feel free to go to https://sites.google.com/site/wijafpvolunteertraining/ if you are interested in learning more about JA Finance and this volunteer opportunity.

If you decide you are interested in volunteering please email Megan Ferger at megan.ferger@rusd.org or call her at (262) 664 6500.  Thank you for your
