In order to bring needed help to the remaining victims, Racine, Kenosha and Walworth counties have organized a Long Term Recovery Committee and is seeking volunteers to speak to victims and evaluate what they need. WiVOAD provides training and involved supervisors to assist volunteers in their work. Volunteers can choose to commit anywhere from 5 -20 hours a week and will be assigned cases that are located in county in which they live. Volunteers are given a cell phone allowance and mileage expenses for their assistance. JOB DESCRIPTION The case manager guides disaster survivors in making in-depth assessments of their long-term recovery needs and assists them in accessing available funding. The current project is working with families/individuals affected by the 2008 flooding in Southern Wisconsin. Reports to: Wisconsin VOAD Regional Supervisor Case Manager Responsibilities: ? Attend all required training ? Develop forms and data management tools to gather and record information for complete client files. ? Contact survivors to assess their needs in a timely fashion ? Work closely with clients to uncover all possible unmet needs. ? Respect client confidentiality at all times. ? Prioritize cases and set objectives in consultation with the long-term recovery committee. ? Research and network with available funding resources and donations to assist clients in meeting their needs. ? Use a web-based database such as the CAN (Coordinated Assistance Network) to avoid duplication of resource allocation. ? Maintain detailed casework records and files. ? Present cases to the unmet needs committee for allocation approval. ? Ensure that allocated funds are accounted for and distributed in a timely manner. ? Encourage clients? active participation and ownership in their individual/family recovery process. ? Assess files/cases to determine when needs are met and, when appropriate, close files. ? Ensure that closed files are transmitted to the State VOAD for safeguarding and retention. Additional Information: The hours of this position will vary according to Regional and Individual case management needs. This is a limited term position. All prospective Case Mangers must complete an Application and Background Information Disclosure.

The Wisconsin Voluntary Organizations Active In Disasters (WiVOAD) is made up of over 25 voluntary agencies contributing to the work of returning people to stability. Lutheran Disaster relief is part of this group of agencies still working to help the victims. If you like helping other people, have dependable transportation, and time to volunteer, we need you.
