Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC)

The Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) was founded in 2008 as a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the City of Racine.

Serving local residents, families, students, and youth groups, the REC seeks to promote appreciation, positive interaction, and responsible stewardship of the Root River and surrounding land (watershed) by providing residents and visitors with educational and recreational opportunities.

In addition to offering kayak and canoe rentals during the summer season, the REC also hosts environmental education workshops for families, private events, and school field trips

The Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) fue establecido en 2008 como un asociación entre la Universidad de Wisconsin-Parkside y la ciudad de Racine.

The Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) is a collaborative effort between UW-Parkside and the City of Racine aimed at fostering environmental stewardship in SE Wisconsin through environmental education, recreation, demonstration and research. REC is the product of a common vision held by community leaders, university professors and area educators, sports groups, and conservation groups. The initial conversation for the REC was the product of foresight and conversation between the City of Racine and UW-Parkside's Professor Skalbeck.
