This is the catchall for volunteer opportunities that our AmeriCorps seniors members use when volunteering with The Volunteer Center of Racine County at our events or non-station opportunities hosted by The Volunteer Center of Racine County.  Join our community of volunteers today.

your skills are needed to keep seniors in their homes,  if you like to garden, paint, repair electrical or plumbing. Whatever you do will be welcomed by these seniors.

Siena Retreat Center is looking for seniors 55+ to help in areas such as dining room servers, welcome desk, bookstore attendants and more!  Hours are flexible.  You will be helping those who need you most. Your time spent with our guests warms many hearts.  Many of the residents look forward to seeing you.

Skill Bank is looking for volunteers to help our seniors at their homes with racking leaf's,  gardening, lawn mowing, and snow clearing.

Youth Volunteer Corps is Racine County's only fully established organization to provide well rounded opportunities for youth to get involved in the community.  Earn your school credits for high school  graduation.

Ages 11-18 are welcome, no supervision needed and all our opportunities are after school or on the weekends

We also provide summer camp opportunities all summer long! Opportunities usually run from 9-2 Monday to Thursday.

Opportunity is for seniors 55+ to volunteer and work on your crafting & sewing skills.

The Volunteer Center of Racine County thru Sew and Save, hosts several projects during the year that you can volunteer.  You do not need to be a skilled sewer, you need to enjoy volunteering.

Multiple ways to serve: Sewing mittens, pads, diapers, angels gowns, quilts and stuffed animals. -

Light trail work .. wood chipping, light brush clearing, trail trimming. Training in all areas offered to identify plants and on proper treatment is provided. Opportunity is for seniors 55+ to volunteer within our  All Saints community.

Ascension sites of care offer various volunteer opportunities. Assisting staff, patients, their families and visitors is the primary purpose and goal of our volunteer program. Responsibilities and duties may vary depending on the program you select and types of services you wish to provide. The time you spend in volunteer activities may vary, from a few hours a week to several hours a day. You can schedule time and volunteer at a location that is convenient  for you. 

Special skills are not required to be a volunteer. You just need to have a willing heart and a warm smile.  Even if you only have a hour a week we need you.

Ascension needs various volunteer.  Hours are flexible.  There are many areas that use volunteers. Contact us for more information.

Description of opportunity

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateur radio operators who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes. 

Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL or any other local or national organization is eligible to apply for membership in ARES. Training may be required or desired to participate fully in ARES. Please inquire at the local level for specific information. Because ARES is an Amateur Radio program, only licensed radio amateurs are eligible for membership. The possession of emergency-powered equipment is desirable, but is not a requirement for membership.

Racine & Kenosha and the rest of Wisconsin ARES/RACES members with their amateur radios, provide a means of communication “when all else fails".  Join us and service your community. If you have your own ham radio that's a plus.

Opportunity to volunteer within our food bank community.

Sort packaged can goods.  Help with distribution buy filling boxes or bags with food items for the needy.  Some bags get heavy but help is always handy.  Become a helper.

The Food Pantry relies on volunteers who are willing to make a commitment.  Volunteerism at the Food Pantry is flexible,
volunteers can work one day per month, one day per week, or a few days per week, normally 1 ½ hour per shift. 
The Pantry is looking for volunteers Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

BeLEAF Survivors Sexual Assault Services (SAS) provides a number of short-term and ongoing services to survivors of sexual assault and their support people, including a 24-hour crisis line, 24-hour hospital response, personal advocacy, legal advocacy, counseling, and support groups. We also provide bilingual advocacy services for Spanish-speaking survivors.

BeLEAF Sobrevivientes/Servicios de asalto sexual provee una serie de servicios a corto plazo y continuos a los sobrevivientes del asalto sexual y sus personas de apoyo, incluyendo una línea de crisis las 24 horas, una respuesta hospitalaria las 24 horas, la defensa personal, la defensa legal, la terapia y grupos de apoyo. También proveemos servicios de la defensa bilingüe a los sobrevivientes hispanohablantes. 

BeLEAF’s Stop Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) program provides school-based child abuse awareness curriculums to students at your school/s. Lessons are presented to preschool and kindergarten children, and 2nd, 4th and 6th grade students. The information provided is developmentally appropriate and aims to reduce child victimization and the stigma of abuse by teaching children to recognize dangerous and abusive situations, distinguish between safe and unsafe touches, say “no” to unwanted advances, encourage children to tell an adult about such episodes, and assure children that such incidents are never the fault of the child.

AmeriCorps Seniors: provides senior citizens a pathway to community service.  AmeriCorps Seniors is one of 19 RSVP projects in Wisconsin and 600 nationally under a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

AmeriCorps Senior volunteers choose how and when they serve. Open to seniors 55 and over, volunteer opportunities are wide and varied.  AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers receive a pre-service orientation, on-the-job training and are eligible for complimentary supplemental accident and automobile and volunteer liability insurance.  Mileage reimbursement of $0.585/mile is available for volunteers in Focus Area projects, i.e. Meals on Wheels, MyRIDE, and BeLEAF survivors volunteer drivers.

 If you have past skills in any of the above that you would like to share volunteer today.  WE need both summer and winter volunteers.
