Volunteer: Boat Building VolunteersOur organization consists of a core group of experienced boat builders who will train volunteers to lead sessions in boat building. Key requirements for volunteers are an interest in helping students learn practical skills and exploring avenues they maybe interested in pursuing as adults. Each class session includes a brief lesson of the day, safety reminders followed by a group work period. A certified teacher is always present in the area. Volunteers have included retired teachers, engineers, business professionals, skilled labor workers and college students. No previous boat building skills are required, but the client base you will be working with are students are youth and mentally handicapped adults. A commitment of 3 to 5 hours per week for the school years is desired.
