RACINE ? The Nearly Naked 5K run/walk is scheduled for Dec. 13. The event is a clothing drive ? participants should start the race wearing as many pieces of clothing as possible. At each kilometer, runners will discard a piece (or pieces) of clothing, which will be donated to the Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization. The run starts at 10 a.m. at John?s Dock, 303 Dodge St. Every participant registered before Dec. 1 will receive a custom finisher?s medal, hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants and cold brew for the post-race party at John?s Dock. Registration until Sept. 28 is $50; between Sept. 29 and Nov. 16, the registration cost is $55. After Nov. 16, if spots are still available, registration will be $60. The purpose of this run is to acquire clothing donations for HALO. This organization has many needs with men?s and women?s business attire, underwear and socks at the top of the list. In an effort to get HALO what they need, there will be prizes to the best dressed male and female and also to the best dressed team. In addition, there will be raffle tickets for each package of new underwear and socks donated. Online registration is available at www.nearlynaked5k.com. This run is ?nearly? naked. Participants are encouraged to have fun with clothing choices; however, running fully nude will not be permitted.
