The Caledonia Historical Society (CHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and dissemination of materials and information relating to the history of Caledonia. The Society promotes the understanding of this history through a number of buildings located at the Caledonia Historical Village and the artifacts and exhibits within them.

By preserving historical structures and artifacts from our past, we can enjoy them in the present and the future. The Society shares Caledonia's history with its residents and visitors to enrich our appreciation of who we are and where we have been.

Our volunteers maintain the grounds, buildings, artifacts and exhibits of the Village. Whatever your talent, the Caledonia Historical Society can use your help to enhance the experience of our visitors. 

The Caledonia Historical Village is open from May through September.

A group of volunteers and their dogs go to different nursing homes in Racine County, to preform a one hour dog show by doing tricks. We have a good time bonding with our dogs, and enjoy teaching them new tricks. Each dog has the opportunity to show off their special talent. You will bring a lot of smiles to the residents faces. Your dog has to of passed an obedience class. (need proof) and have a (CGC) Canine good Citizen Certificate. Be dog, and people tolerant. Already knowing some basic tricks is helpful. Be willing to do one show most months. Practice one hour each Monday night at Greater Racine Kennel Club 7 pm until 8 p.m starting January 1st 2018.

We need a volunteer to distribute flyers to local Churches,  business, schools and organizations.  You must have your own transportation.

We also do mailings and make calls to Churches to get e-mails.  There are 145 Churches in Racine that may need to be contacted.

Dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the history of Caledonia, we are looking for people who can help us promote our Society and its activities and events

The Racine County Fair needs Volunteers every July to set up the fair groounds and stage areaa.  This is a lot of manul labor but fun for all.

School teams are welcome, boy/girl scout trops.  Contact the fair in mid July for acivites.

The #1 disaster Red Cross responds to is a house fire. Disaster Response Volunteers (Disaster Action Team) train and respond to local communities immediately after a disaster. They provide emergency disaster assistance & hope to individuals and families affected by the disaster.

Responsibilities: Respond to local disasters when activated. Work on-scene with family immediately following the disaster. When activated, ability to respond immediately, often in personal vehicle. Provide disaster assistance as appropriate and outlined in the Response Guidelines. Work professionally with clients, first responders, and partner agencies. Attend regularly scheduled Disaster Cycle Services Volunteer meetings.

Time Commitment: In additional to regular meeting attendance, disasters happen day & night. Scheduling varies by geography. In Racine County, you will receive ongoing training and be contacted by our dispatch team when an incident occurs in your proximity. You will also be encouraged to volunteer in Milwaukee County, where due to a high volume of home fires, volunteers are asked to sign up for a 6 hour "on-call" shift at least 4 times per month. A disaster response itself can take 1-2 hours (on average).

Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin driver's license and good driving record. Availability to respond at a variety of hours with own transportation. Ability to respond to phone call in a timely manner. Strong empathy skills. Able to maintain confidentiality with client information. Open-mindedness and sensitivity to diversity. Enjoy work as a team member and ability to follow instructions. Basic computer & Internet skills. Provide clear, objective, documentation for case file. Comfortable working in stressful situations. Able to handle multiple tasks and assess incoming information quickly. Ability to lift & carry 25 pounds.

Length of Appointment: Minimum 6 month commitment

Requirements: Oriorientation the American Red Cross Online & Self Study training. Classroom training (local travel may be required to attend classroom based training) Assistance / Observation on the scene. One-on-one mentoring and support from current volunteers. Regular and consistent attendance at meetings and "on call" shifts.

Running Crews Needed - Sign up now for the Season! Our show crews are vital to every production, each show has many important volunteer opportunities. Crew positions are a popular way to get involved with all of the fun that comes from being a part of the show.   

Crew Position Descriptions

Costumes The costume designer works with the director to select costumes for the show. Costume designer is also responsible for finding the costumes, this may involve pulling costumes from our storage, buying clothes from stores and secondhand shops.

Costume designers also work with the director to accessorize actors with shoes, hats, jewelry, etc. This can be a shared position with a friend. Props The props person works with the director in deciding which props will be used. This may involve pulling props from our storage and/or locating props elsewhere. This can be a shared position with a friend. 

Ushers -   The Usher(s) work with the House Mangers(s) to oversee the lobby and all patron areas during performances. Ushers direct patrons to their seats, hand out programs and assist with concessions.

We need a peson with some grant writing experience to work with one or two LGBT Board members in writing and finding grant opportunities for the LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin.  We particularly need someone who is good at the language and composition required in grant writing.

This grant writing volunteer can help us with a few grants at this time or help us continually.

 Part of a two man crew on the ReStore truck.  Pick up donation as scheduled.  Work with Donation Coordinator to schedule pick-ups and routes. Shifts are Tues, Thurs  9:45 am to 1 pm & Saturday 12:45 pm to 4 pm

Assist  customers with merchandise questions and locations.  Help maintain proper inventory levels and displays on the sales floor.  Assist customer and donors with merchandise.  Assist with loss prevention.  Ability to follow directions and work independently or as a team. 

Ability to stand and walk for a 3 hour shift. 

Shifts are Tues, Thurs  9:45 am to 1 pm & Saturday 12:45 pm to 4 pm

Determine pricing of donated items, and stock merchandise items onto the warehouse floor.  Knowledge in any of the following areas is helpful: tools, hardware, appliances lighting, hvac,lumber, plumbing and electrical supplies.  Maintain proper inventory levels and displays on the sales floor.  Assist customers and donors with merchandise.  Ability to follow directions and work independently or as a team. 

Ability work 3 hour shift. 

Operate cash register and credit card machine, maintain proper check out procedures.  Greet and interact with customer in a friendly and helpful manner with good customer service and communication skills.  answer phone calls and take messages.  Assist pricing, stocking and displays as needed.  Good organizational skill.  Ability to follow directions and work as a team or independently as needed. 

Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Shifts are Tues & Thurs from 9:45 am to 1 pm and 12:45 pm -4 pm.  Saturday am shift starts at 8:45. 

Earth Day in Racine April 22, 9:00 to noon. We will teach you how to recognize garlic mustard, and provide tools so you can pull it easily. Plants will be bagged, and the bags will be left on the trails where the city will pick them up for disposal. We hope to pull enough to fill 30 bags...so we need you! Volunteers may be any age; youngsters should come with adult. Volunteers should be able to walk on uneven ground in the park, and be able to bend over and pull plants from ground. Dress for the weather in layers, with long pants and sturdy shoes with socks. Bring your own drinking water.

This  activity occers every 4th Saturday of every Month biginng Aprile through October.

We are also looking for people who wish to fulfil the role of host / hostess at the meetings. You provide coffee and tea, welcome visitors and serve as a contact point for both visitors and repairers in the Repair Café

The LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin needs a volunteer with marketing skills to approach LGBT friendly businesses by email, phone and in person to purchase paid advertising on the LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin web site.

We also need persons with marketing and artistic talent to advertise our events and activities.  This voluntter could choose to work on on event/activity or be on a team that coordinates our marketing.

The Racine Urban Garden Network is always excited to bring new members onto our committees. As a growing organization, getting fresh ideas for our growth is as important as it is fun! We have several committees that are seeking members.

1. Education and Events:Organize educational opportunities and workshops in all things gardening for RUGN gardeners and community members. Help our team to plan events, including orientation events, fundraising events, and educational workshops.

2. Grants and Fundraising:Find funds to keep our gardens growing and to add more gardens to our network. 

3. PR and Marketing:Promote RUGN and our gardens. Work with the other committees to get the word out about events and activities. Experience with gardening is not required.

4. Volunteer Recruiting and Coordinating:Find and coordinate the volunteers that make RUGN possible.

RUGN's committees are filled by people with many different backgrounds and skills. Skills that we are currently seeking include marketing, land-use planning and development, and events coordination. However, an enthusiasm for what RUGN does for our community is qualification enough for any interested person!

The LGBT Center of Wisconsin needs a volunteer to clean the LGBT Center.  Presently we are in the midst of some renovation and need volunteers to help us with cleaning, as well as, putting supplies in cupboards, etc.  This volunteer job is perfect for someone wha wants to help out and become a part of the LGBT  and Ally community.

Can you sing?  Play an instrument?  Or do you have some other talent you want to share?

Every time Our Harmony Club meets, we provide our guests and volunteers with an hour of entertainment from 1pm-2pm.  The individuals who would be the audience are generally 55+ with age related disabilities (such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease or suffered a stroke). For this reason, the entertainment needs to be conducive and mindful of the approximately 20-40 elderly individuals.

We are looking for a volunteer to call bingo on 2 Wednesday's per month from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The volunteer should arrive by 1:15 so they can get set up.The dates will be scheduled in advance, although flexibility would be great. If possible, the volunteer should be able to supply the prizes. The prizes can be a variety of snack items, or trinkets such as seasonal knickknacks, small stuffed toys etc. We can provide these prizes if it isn't possible for the volunteer to get donated or inexpensive prizes. Are you passionate about putting an end to Alzheimer’s disease? Do you want to get more involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s? Then we need you! In order to grow the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we must continue to enlist and empower more volunteers to help us extend our reach.

Committee members plan the Walk to End Alzheimer’s from the kick-off to the wrap-up. Some committee members focus on growing the event, like recruiting new teams, covering the community in Walk materials, and securing sponsorships. Others focus on event production and find ways to enhance the event experience. Planning Committee members are always welcome.

Planning committee meetings are held approximately once a month March - October.

Elizabeth Gardens is an assisted living community for the elderly, our residents are independent, alert and active. We are currently looking for volunteer team members that are inspired to promote the enjoyment of our residents.  We have weekly outings and we are interested in having a volunteer join us to assist our residents with tasks such as: minimum transportation loading and departing our bus, assistance while grocery shopping and joining us for our daily activities, arts and crafts, bingo, social hour and more.

1) Push social change by writing to attorneys, judges, newspaper editors, etc to ensure that the legal system won't allow dangerous child abusers and predators get off with little more than a slap on the wrist, and to educate them on the lifelong scars that victims survive.

2) Brainstorm ideas in which we come up to fortify, change, or close loopholes for our elected officials to change up in order to have the muscle to protect our abused children.

3) Hold public meetings or inviting leaders in our community such as local and county law enforcment, school board, teachers, and other child professionals to ensure that they are educated in the lifelong effects of child abuse and how to recognize the signs and symptoms.

4) Push awareness of our organization in which more people are understanding who and what we are. Some fundraising will coincide with these types of events.

YVI meetings are on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 3pm until board decides to change.

This opportunity is for those who seek a challenge to help put and keep a non-profit's paper work in order, as well as to ensure that the view for social and legal changes are within the scope and legalities of protecting abused children.

To ensure that lobbying focuses are in tact, well organized and has the "teeth" needed to do some real good, the legal advocate will check to see if the activity is not only within attainable paramaters, but also not overlapping other existing laws.

Law students, Criminal Justice students, and Political Science students are all encouraged to volunteer for this board position or to serve as a volunteer member of this team.

We always need people who will be willing to write to legislators to get them to author a bill to help protect abused children. At any point, there will be an issue to push in some direction or another. After getting legislator support, then pass around a petition to urge said member and other legislators to support this bill.

During times that we are not pushing for legislation, we will continue to work on the same issues with Law Enforcement officers, attornies, judges, and other community officials, including school administrators to educate them on the burdens survivors of abuse endure for a life time, and to ensure that those who abuse our children get stiffer punishment than a slap on the wrist. Often, these same people will need to also learn about the signs and symptoms of abuse.

Youth Voice Initiative is looking for people who can freely speak with our legislators when we invite them for our meetings or when we travel to Madison to talk to them about the legislation on hand. We will also need to feel comfortable speaking with lawyers, judges, Law Enforcement Officers, school administration, and whom ever else we invite for a meeting.

These meetings may happen on or off YVI premises until we have an official building to conduct business. In case there is a case that we get invited to give a talk, to also feel comfortable to speak about our cause and why it is so important to protect our children, and how they can help, even if in the background.

We need people to not only keep track of incoming and outgoing funds for various purposes. People in this area will need to coordinate with other Board members and volunteers for the events that are being coordinated. Between the accounting board member and the treasurer, these two positions will have access to the YVI bank account to ensure that all funds are accounted for.

The administrative assistant will also have a board spot, and will have a small committee which will include the YVI secretary and coordinate information and also be a contact person for public contact.

Youth Voice Initiative is looking for people who can create our website, brochures, and information to distribute to the public. Each push in social change and legislation push will require it's own information sheet, as well as a brochure to wrap up all of the current information into a pamphlet.

Because we want to stay up on the edge, we will keep up with new information.

We meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at 3pm, and we need a board member and a couple volunteers to work on this.

Youth Voice Initiative is looking for people who can create and promote our events, such as a bake sale, organizing a booth within other events such as the Root River events, Party on the Pavement, National Night Out, YVI's annual "Untraditional Christmas Potluck", etc. as well as full out fundraising events to create awareness in our community to attract more attention and recruit more volunteers.

As a board member and a team, we will work together continuously throughout the year to ensure that the name is getting out there.

Those who are crafty are encouraged to participate, and possibly donate a craft item for donation for a fundraiser, having a mutually beneficial connection for the greater good of the local community.

SMP volunteers are concerned citizens (often retired professionals) who empower seniors to prevent healthcare fraud through outreach and education. SMP volunteers make presentations to groups and/or distribute materials at community events to educate Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, and professionals how to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud.

Most volunteers commit between 2-5 hours each month to the SMP program. Generally, volunteer duties fall into one of the following two categories: speaking to Medicare beneficiaries about fraud OR working an SMP table (answering questions about SMP, disseminating brochures about Medicare fraud) at a senior-related health fair. Additionally, some SMP volunteers help write press releases, help with office administration, and assist other SMP volunteers in scheduling their presentations.

All SMP volunteers must complete the SMP Foundations Training before beginning to volunteer with the project. Additionally, supplementary training is available to SMP volunteers on an on-going basis.
