We are looking for a few more volunteers for our MargaretAnn's Program (MAP), which is a free monthly support group for grieving children and their families.  Volunteers attend a brief orientation with our Program Coordinator, submit to a background check and commit to one year of service.  The commitment includes one 2 hour support group per month at our office.  Volunteers are able to miss a month or two during their year as we understand that vacations and illness happen.  

Volunteers work with either the children or the adults and we try to respect their preference.  The adults' group is unstructured with peer led conversation and the children's group has structured activities designed by the Program Coordinator. 

We are looking for someone with a driver's license and a registered vehicle with insurance who is willing to pick up children and teens from the ages of 5 to 16 years old. Transportation for pickup would be in the Racine area on Friday nights. Pick-up times begin at 5:30 pm and drop off times begin at 7:45 PM. Background check and a completed volunteer application will be required. 

The Atrium and Bay Pointe is in need of a group or individuals to help get our grounds looking great after the long winter. Raking, pruning, weeding and general spring clean up is needed. These tasks can be done at your convenience and is a great project for school or church groups or by anyone that loves gardening. Call Julie at 262-639-1100 if interested.

Instrumentalists, vocalists and musical groups are invited to perform for residents of communities. Volunteer must be caring, compassionate, patient, comfortable with older adults and enjoy spending time with them. 1 hour as scheduled and available. Must be 14 years or older.

Do you love to bake? Join our residents to bake cookies, brownies and other great treats. Help with reading directions, measuring, stirring, etc. Must be 14 years or older.

The Center has numerous organic vegetable and flower gardens. Volunteers are needed March through December for planting, weeding, harvesting, and putting gardens to bed. Volunteers from all different backgrounds are welcome to volunteer, training will be provided. From this experience you are bound to know more about plants and food while having made an impact at the EJC. Volunteers need to be respectful, responsible and able to follow instructions given on site for each specific job. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old or accompanied by an adult if younger. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for working outdoors.

Fix wooden gates, replace barn boards, add railing for wooden stairs. Must be 20 years or older and have carpenter skills.

The Center is composed of 15 acres with 7 acres being a hay field. Volunteers are needed year round to collect fallen branches, shovel snow, move and spread soil/mulch, split wood, remove invasive species and rake, cut, and edge the yard. While some of these tasks are available for all ages, volunteers need to be 18 or over to operate the lawn mower, splitter, and trimmer. While volunteering you can take in the sights and sounds of nature. Volunteers need to be respectful, responsible and able to follow instruction given on site for each specific job. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old or accompanied by an adult if younger. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for working outdoors.

Habitat is looking for volunteers who are energetic and are interested in giving back to the community. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells new and slightly used building supplies, furniture and appliances to the public that have been donated to the ReStore. No experience is needed.

Volunteer hours would consist of picking up donations, cleaning items and appliances, pricing items, assisting customers in need and being a cashier. Volunteers usually work a three-hour shift. The ReStore is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-4pm and Saturday from 9am-4pm. We primarily need volunteers for our afternoon shifts. Volunteers must be 14 years or older.

Friendly visitors provide companionship to our hospice patients.  Spend time sharing stories, reading to them, listening to music, watching a favorite TV show or just sitting quietly.  It’s wonderful to spend time with patients to relieve family members or be there to let them know they’re not alone.  We’re looking for volunteers to provide regular visits and companionship to hospice patients in their own community.

We will work to match you with a patient based on your location, availability and background so this role is not only tailored to our patients' needs, but can fit into your schedule as well.

There is required training for this position to ensure that you are prepared and comfortable in the role.  The 14 hour in-service is a self-study that can be done on your own and at your own pace.

Wellness Activity volunteers provide assistance to staff hosting wellness activities in assisted living facilities. Spend time helping staff with group activities; set up, execute and clean up. Join us for bowling, beach day and special occasion/holiday crafts and activities. It’s wonderful to spend time with those in the assisted living including the memory care units to brighten their spirits with fun and engaging activities. We’re looking for volunteers to provide staff with regular assistance with community wellness activities.

 Our long-time leaders will be leaving us in December.  Many of our members would have difficulty performing all of the tasks necessary to run a support group, so we are looking for a coordinator/facilitator to help us. 

We have members willing to help with minutes, newsletter, treats, and looking for some of the speakers or programs.  What we need is someone who would act as the central communicator – keeping track of who is planning which meeting,  reminding members of which tasks they’ve signed up for, running the brief (15-20 minute) business meeting which takes place before each meeting’s program, and helping us find or contact some of the speakers. 

We have a more detailed list of support group responsibilities which we are willing to help with, but we need someone with organizational skills to help us function well.  Without a volunteer support group leader, there is a good chance that members of the Racine Parkinson Support Group will not be able to continue meeting.

This person will greet visitors, answer phone calls, direct visitors and community members as needed.  Needed Monday through Friday 9:00 to 3:30 .  Flexible hours, would prefer 2 to 4 hour shifts.

The Caledonia Historical Society (CHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and dissemination of materials and information relating to the history of Caledonia. The Society promotes the understanding of this history through a number of buildings located at the Caledonia Historical Village and the artifacts and exhibits within them.

By preserving historical structures and artifacts from our past, we can enjoy them in the present and the future. The Society shares Caledonia's history with its residents and visitors to enrich our appreciation of who we are and where we have been.

A group of volunteers and their dogs go to different nursing homes in Racine County, to preform a one hour dog show by doing tricks. We have a good time bonding with our dogs, and enjoy teaching them new tricks. Each dog has the opportunity to show off their special talent. You will bring a lot of smiles to the residents faces. Your dog has to of passed an obedience class. (need proof) and have a (CGC) Canine good Citizen Certificate. Be dog, and people tolerant. Already knowing some basic tricks is helpful. Be willing to do one show most months. Practice one hour each Monday night at Greater Racine Kennel Club 7 pm until 8 p.m starting January 1st 2018.

We need a volunteer to distribute flyers to local Churches,  business, schools and organizations.  You must have your own transportation.

We also do mailings and make calls to Churches to get e-mails.  There are 145 Churches in Racine that may need to be contacted.

Dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the history of Caledonia, we are looking for people who can help us promote our Society and its activities and events

The Racine County Fair needs Volunteers every July to set up the fair groounds and stage areaa.  This is a lot of manul labor but fun for all.

School teams are welcome, boy/girl scout trops.  Contact the fair in mid July for acivites.

The #1 disaster Red Cross responds to is a house fire. Disaster Response Volunteers (Disaster Action Team) train and respond to local communities immediately after a disaster. They provide emergency disaster assistance & hope to individuals and families affected by the disaster.

Responsibilities: Respond to local disasters when activated. Work on-scene with family immediately following the disaster. When activated, ability to respond immediately, often in personal vehicle. Provide disaster assistance as appropriate and outlined in the Response Guidelines. Work professionally with clients, first responders, and partner agencies. Attend regularly scheduled Disaster Cycle Services Volunteer meetings.

Time Commitment: In additional to regular meeting attendance, disasters happen day & night. Scheduling varies by geography. In Racine County, you will receive ongoing training and be contacted by our dispatch team when an incident occurs in your proximity. You will also be encouraged to volunteer in Milwaukee County, where due to a high volume of home fires, volunteers are asked to sign up for a 6 hour "on-call" shift at least 4 times per month. A disaster response itself can take 1-2 hours (on average).

Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin driver's license and good driving record. Availability to respond at a variety of hours with own transportation. Ability to respond to phone call in a timely manner. Strong empathy skills. Able to maintain confidentiality with client information. Open-mindedness and sensitivity to diversity. Enjoy work as a team member and ability to follow instructions. Basic computer & Internet skills. Provide clear, objective, documentation for case file. Comfortable working in stressful situations. Able to handle multiple tasks and assess incoming information quickly. Ability to lift & carry 25 pounds.

Length of Appointment: Minimum 6 month commitment

Requirements: Oriorientation the American Red Cross Online & Self Study training. Classroom training (local travel may be required to attend classroom based training) Assistance / Observation on the scene. One-on-one mentoring and support from current volunteers. Regular and consistent attendance at meetings and "on call" shifts.

Costumes The costume designer works with the director to select costumes for the show. Costume designer is also responsible for finding the costumes, this may involve pulling costumes from our storage, buying clothes from stores and secondhand shops.

Costume designers also work with the director to accessorize actors with shoes, hats, jewelry, etc. This can be a shared position with a friend. Props The props person works with the director in deciding which props will be used. This may involve pulling props from our storage and/or locating props elsewhere. Ushers -   The Usher(s) work with the House Mangers(s) to oversee the lobby and all patron areas during performances. Ushers direct patrons to their seats, hand out programs and assist with concessions.

Earth Day in Racine April 22, 9:00 to noon. We will teach you how to recognize garlic mustard, and provide tools so you can pull it easily. Plants will be bagged, and the bags will be left on the trails where the city will pick them up for disposal. We hope to pull enough to fill 30 bags...so we need you! Volunteers may be any age; youngsters should come with adult. Volunteers should be able to walk on uneven ground in the park, and be able to bend over and pull plants from ground. Dress for the weather in layers, with long pants and sturdy shoes with socks. Bring your own drinking water.

This  activity occers every 4th Saturday of every Month biginng Aprile through October.

We are also looking for people who wish to fulfil the role of host / hostess at the meetings. You provide coffee and tea, welcome visitors and serve as a contact point for both visitors and repairers in the Repair Café

The LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin needs a volunteer with marketing skills to approach LGBT friendly businesses by email, phone and in person to purchase paid advertising on the LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin web site.

We also need persons with marketing and artistic talent to advertise our events and activities.  This voluntter could choose to work on on event/activity or be on a team that coordinates our marketing.

The Racine Urban Garden Network is always excited to bring new members onto our committees. As a growing organization, getting fresh ideas for our growth is as important as it is fun! We have several committees that are seeking members.

1. Education and Events:Organize educational opportunities and workshops in all things gardening for RUGN gardeners and community members. Help our team to plan events, including orientation events, fundraising events, and educational workshops.

2. Grants and Fundraising:Find funds to keep our gardens growing and to add more gardens to our network. 

3. PR and Marketing:Promote RUGN and our gardens. Work with the other committees to get the word out about events and activities. Experience with gardening is not required.

4. Volunteer Recruiting and Coordinating:Find and coordinate the volunteers that make RUGN possible.

RUGN's committees are filled by people with many different backgrounds and skills. Skills that we are currently seeking include marketing, land-use planning and development, and events coordination. However, an enthusiasm for what RUGN does for our community is qualification enough for any interested person!

Every time Our Harmony Club meets, we provide our guests and volunteers with an hour of entertainment from 1pm-2pm.  The individuals who would be the audience are generally 55+ with age related disabilities (such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease or suffered a stroke). For this reason, the entertainment needs to be conducive and mindful of the approximately 20-40 elderly individuals.

We are looking for a volunteer to call bingo on 2 Wednesday's per month from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The volunteer should arrive by 1:15 so they can get set up.The dates will be scheduled in advance, although flexibility would be great. If possible, the volunteer should be able to supply the prizes. The prizes can be a variety of snack items, or trinkets such as seasonal knickknacks, small stuffed toys etc. We can provide these prizes if it isn't possible for the volunteer to get donated or inexpensive prizes. Are you passionate about putting an end to Alzheimer’s disease? Do you want to get more involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s? Then we need you! In order to grow the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we must continue to enlist and empower more volunteers to help us extend our reach.

Committee members plan the Walk to End Alzheimer’s from the kick-off to the wrap-up. Some committee members focus on growing the event, like recruiting new teams, covering the community in Walk materials, and securing sponsorships. Others focus on event production and find ways to enhance the event experience. Planning Committee members are always welcome.

Planning committee meetings are held approximately once a month March - October.

Elizabeth Gardens is an assisted living community for the elderly, our residents are independent, alert and active. We are currently looking for volunteer team members that are inspired to promote the enjoyment of our residents.  We have weekly outings and we are interested in having a volunteer join us to assist our residents with tasks such as: minimum transportation loading and departing our bus, assistance while grocery shopping and joining us for our daily activities, arts and crafts, bingo, social hour and more.
