Our Thrift Shop and Food Pantry are looking for helping hands to sort, organize, and display donations. It’s a fun, relaxed environment where every hour you give helps support veterans in need. Choose the days and shifts that fits your schedule!  Store hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10am until 5 pm. The morning shift is 10am-1pm and afternoon shift is 1pm – 5pm. 

We’re looking for volunteers with a van or trailer to help transport donations and essentials! Pick-ups include items for our thrift store and food pantry, while deliveries often involve bringing larger items—like furniture and household goods—to veterans transitioning into housing.

Scheduling is flexible and can be arranged around your availability. Your help makes a direct impact in getting supplies to those who need them most!

Our Farm Oasis is home to a growing family of chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and a goat! These animals help support our food pantry and contribute to the programs that sustain our mission.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with daily chores like feeding, cleaning, and maintaining the pen, and even building new perches!

As we expand our programs, we’ll be introducing horses for Equine Therapy for veterans. We’re seeking both animal caretakers and volunteers interested in helping teach and support therapy sessions.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with upkeep and improvements of our Thrift Store, Farm Oasis barn, house and property.  Whether you enjoy small repair projects or larger renovation work, there’s something for everyone! If you have experience in electrical work, plumbing, welding, carpentry or general maintenance, we’d love your help.  We’re also preparing to welcome horses for our upcoming Equine Therapy program for veterans.  Help us build fencing and a few horse stalls to make it happen!

What you’ll do:

No professional fundraising experience is required—just enthusiasm, a willingness to help, and a passion for supporting veterans. Your efforts will directly help us provide the programs and services our veterans rely on.

We’re seeking a dedicated volunteer to coordinate our Art Program, where veterans express creativity and purpose through art.  The artwork is sold in our Thrift Store, with proceeds supporting our programs. We need someone to help teach, organize projects, and track art inventory and sales.

Do you enjoy woodworking or teaching hands-on skills? We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to help run our woodworking program for veterans. You would help veterans with woodworking projects as well as keep track of project inventory and sales.  No fancy credentials required—just a love of woodworking, helping others, and working with a great group of people. Your time will make a real difference!

We’ve started a new garden at our Farm Oasis and would love your help! Tasks include planting, weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting, all of which can be done on your own schedule. Our goal is to grow fresh produce for our food pantry and eventually create a small vegetable stand to raise funds for our veteran programs. If you have a green thumb or are interested in leading this growing program, we’d love to hear from you!

Do you enjoy good conversation and brightening someone’s day? GZVO is looking for warm, friendly volunteers to spend time with our veterans at the center. Chat and share stories, play games or just hang out.  A little of your time and kindness can make a big difference—helping build community and reminding our veterans that they are valued and never forgotten.
